Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
