Followers Demand Detainment of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another comment on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
